For some of us, reading is a hobby; we enjoy reading our favorite genre of books. But most times, we find it difficult to finish a book even when we find the book interesting. It could take weeks or even months to finish a less than 200 paged book.
The thing about reading a book (not academic books) with too many breaks is that, it may not have so much effect.
What do I mean?
Letās say youāre about to read chapter 5 of a novel after some days or weeks, you may end up forgetting the previous chapters of the book. Especially when the chapters are connected in a way.
I have identified and practiced a simple reading technique that has helped me read effectively and at a good pace.
Kindly note:
The kind of books I applied this technique to is the regular fiction and non-fiction books (motivational, self-help, religious, etc.) not academic books.
The first thing you need to do is, identify how many chapters the book you are about to read has.
Letās say it has about 15 chapters. One of the most effective ways to finish that book and remember its content is to adjust your reading time and pace.
You can do this by simply taking one chapter daily. When you do this for 15 days, youāll be done with the book.
If you take two chapters daily, in less than 8 days, youāll be done with the whole book and youāll less likely to forget itās content for a long while.
Easy and cool yeah?
What technique do you use while reading fiction and non-fiction books?
By the way, I just finished reading āThis Thing Called Purposeā by Adaora. Iād post my review soon.
