I was going through one of my old journals and got filled with mixed emotions.
In that journal, I wrote about my daily experiences, spiritual encounters, academic journey, love life, my rants, and literally everything about what and how I was feeling.
There were some parts of the journal where I even flinched because I realized I have grown a lot; things that used to bother me don’t seem to bother me anymore.
Only heaven knows who read the content of that journal before I got rid of it. Lol.
Because with a hard copy journal, it’s tough to have privacy, because some people don’t have respect for privacy.
Even when it’s boldly written ‘Do not open’ in the cover of the journal, some people would still open and snoop around.

I wonder why though!!!
If you are the type of person that doesn’t respect people’s privacy, stop it.

For privacy reasons, I discarded the hard copy journal and started keeping one online.
Journaling is therapeutic to me, so I pen down all I want to in the notes on my phone, take a screenshot and uploaded to a folder in my google drive.
I try to do it daily but it’s almost impossible to keep up. So I journal everything now and then.
Although I’m trying to make it a daily habit because it’s really important.
Why is journaling so important?
There are many reasons why we should all keep a journal.
Here are 2 major reasons why (based on personal experiences);
1. Journaling helps you clear your mind and keep your thoughts in check. Our thoughts can be overwhelming, one of the best ways to get over it is to either talk about how we’re feeling or journal it. Recording your daily events, thoughts, feelings, experiences or opinions in your journal, will help you organize your thoughts.
2. Journaling helps relieve stress. When I feel overwhelmed, stressed, or in pain, I write in my journal. This helps to reduce and release accumulated stress.
There are many other unique benefits to keep a journal.
You’ll discover more when you start one.
Now you might ask, ‘How can I start?’
The first step is to get a journal and pen from the bookstore, or get an e journal.
Then start writing.
Viola!
It’s that simple. 🙂
Hope you find value from this post.
Do you keep a journal or it’s something you’d like to try? Kindly let me know in the comments.
Journaling is actually good medicine.
Thank you for this❤️

I’ve been journaling since I learned to write. Nobody told me about it, I just liked writing. And I kept doing it my entire life, but I burned most of my notebooks because there were too many of them and I didn’t want anyone else to find them

Oh wow! I can understand the privacy concerns because that’s the issues I had too. Reasons why I started keeping my writings online (in my Google drive actually). You can try it too (probably Google Docs); it’s more private than the physical notebooks.

I could do that, but I don’t like writing on the computer. I love notebooks and handwriting 😁

Ouch! That’s understandable.
Well for me, I write on the notes in my phone, take a screenshot with the date and upload to my journal folder on my google drive. You could try that. 😀
