Everyone in their twenties have fun filled experiences but it can be overwhelming at some point. From trying to be independent, figuring life out, finding career path, relationships, finances, the society pressure and other factors. It’s just hectic. Also, the society has set high standards for people in their twenties to have it together because they are ADULTS. A stage we thought we were more than prepared for. Now look at us. Lol.
It’s easy to plan our lives in our head but it doesn’t always play out that way in reality. This minute you feel you’ve got things together and next minute you have no clue of what you’re doing and it sucks. News flash! you’re not alone. That’s the story of everyone’s (in their twenties) life. But then, it doesn’t always have to be that way. It’s a phase that comes every now and then. How you handle it is what matters.
Funny story; part of this post has been sitting in my draft for weeks. It was a personal write up (a piece I always read for a quick reminder and self reassurance). Recently, I shared part of it on my Instagram feeds because I realized I’m not alone and I need you to know that too.
We all have highs and lows. I’m no motivational speaker but I’m aware positive words bring life; more reasons why I’m sharing this post with you. Dear Twenty Something, here are seven things to remember, especially when you’re at your lows:
1. Don’t be too hard on yourself

Life generally has ups and downs. Relax. It may feel like your peers or other people are doing better than you in a way but it doesn’t matter. Everyone has unique time and season. Don’t be intimidated by anyone and stop comparing yourself to other people. Grow at your own pace. You’ll be fine las las.
2. Never stop learning

We are at the stage of our lives where some of us are still finding our career path, getting to know ourselves better and trying to figure our purpose and goals. Trial and errors are inevitable. This would help in the process. Try tons of things and keep trying until you find a path that you are drawn to. Be open to learn, unlearn and relearn.
3. Fall deeply in love with yourself FIRST

Even the Bible says “love your neighbor as you love yourself…”. Fall in love with yourself FIRST. Care and appreciate yourself. Remind yourself that you are as amazing, special and worthy as anyone else. Show love and compassion to yourself.
4. You are beautiful

Have you taken a look at yourself lately? You are drop dead gorgeous. Everything about you is uniquely beautiful. Always remember this.
5. Trust your instincts

The world is noisy. Always listen to that tiny voice in your heart and follow it. It’s so worth it.
6. You don’t have to fit in.

Stop trying so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out. Be you. Do you. For you.
7. Choose your happiness first

You are in charge of your own happiness. It’s okay to be selfish with that. Don’t let anyone claim ownership of your happiness.
Dear Twenty Something, you are doing better than you think. Always remember these seven things and be kind to yourself 💝
